Intisar Kamel Hamid, a lecturer at the Centre for Marine Sciences, University of Basra, was awarded a PhD by the Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Fisheries and Marine Resources, University of Basra, following the defence of
her thesis entitled
*Management of three fish species in the East al-Hammar Marshes, Iraq*
The study included a description of the environmental and demographic characteristics, namely the length-weight relationship, relative condition factor, sex ratio, first sexual maturity and gonadal function, as well as stock indicators for three species of commercial fish in the Al-Bayah Al-Akhdar and Al-Bayah Al-Klozingeri marshes and the Al-Khasni fish
The FiSAT II software (Ver. 1.2.2) was utilised to generate the data required to propose the necessary management measures for the conservation of fish stocks. The thesis was awarded a First Class Honours degree.
