Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul-Razzaq Al-Dugaji served as chair of the thesis defense committee for the master’s thesis submitted by graduate student Abdullah Ali Abdullah at the College of Marine Sciences, University of Basra, titled
 *Assessment of Environmental Risks Resulting from Heavy Metal Pollution in Water and Sediments at the Shatt al-Arab Estuary*
General Objective of the Thesis:
To assess the environmental risks resulting from water and sediment contamination by heavy metals at the Shatt al-Arab estuary by determining the concentrations of these metals and their spatial and temporal distribution; estimating the degree of contamination and its potential sources; evaluating its environmental and health implications; and establishing a scientific database and recommendations to aid in the management and protection of the region.
The discussion took place in an outstanding academic atmosphere and featured in-depth scholarly exchanges, during which Dr. Muhammad Abdul-Rida Al-Dugaji offered a series of precise scientific observations and guidance that enriched the discussion and enhanced the research value of the thesis.
At the conclusion of the session, the examination committee expressed its appreciation for the effort expended in preparing the dissertation and commended the significance of the findings reached by the student, wishing him continued success in his academic and research career.
